Copyright Presentation -Update 4

After reading chapters eight and nine, I added music to my presentation to make it more attractive, unfortunately it cannot be listen when converted into a SlideShare.

They Snooze you Lose by Burmark - Chapter 9

Emotions, everybody have emotions! And in this chapter we learned how to tapping emotions into our presentations. First of all, the presenter needs to be aware that he transfers his emotions to the public. So, if we as teachers want our students to be motivated about a topic, we need to pass that emotion on to them while explaining the content of the lesson. In our presentations, instead of using just statistics or probability, we may use pictures to engage our students in the topic and make them emotional towards what we need to say. Teachers also need to be conscious that students’ emotions also interfere their learning. If a student is currently passing trough terrible situations at home, he or she will be unable to concentrate at school. Educator’s feelings will radiate in the classroom and our students will be able to feel what it is in our heart; if you really love and care for them, you do not have to tell them, they will feel it and sense it in the air. I need to take advantage of this opportunity to transmit positive, optimistic and constructive feelings to my students that will help them, not only to pass the class, but to become better persons.

They Snooze you Lose by Burmark - Chapter 8

In chapter eight, Burmark explains the impact of playing music during our presentations. Besides the images, the music plays an important role during the presentation; the effect of the music is essential because it sets the mood of the audience and prepares them to listen about the subject matter. According to Burmark, it is crucial to select the perfect piece of music to set the stage for the lesson or presentation to follow. Music can change our emotions and could help us to improve education processes. Listening music while learning and then listen to the same music when testing will help students recall the information they have learned. Since I am a new teacher, I have not had a chance to use music in my classroom. After reading this chapter, I am anxious to prove music in my classroom to see if my students improve their outcomes. I am knowledgeable how important is music for teenagers, so if it will help them to be engaged in the lesson and to finish their assignment on time, I am ready to try it!

Copyright Presentation-Update 3

Here it is the new presentation update after reading chapters 5,6 and 7.

I changed some of the images to create more impact on the audience and added a cartoon to make some connections trough humor.

They Snooze you Lose by Burmark - Chapter 7

In chapter seven, Images, Burmark explains how images and visual content helps the presenter to get the point across to the audience. Sometimes by using one imagine we can accomplish more than explaining abstract content to students that they have no idea how to apply to the real world. Our slides should be illustrative; we need to limit the quantity of words we use in each slide. Having less words and one imagine per slide will help learners to connect content with visuals, and therefore they will remember it easily. Sizing and placing images it is also very important, programs such as Photoshop and iStockphoto are very helpful to resize pictures and to edit them in order to make them illustrative for our presentations. Color can make the difference if we want to emphasize words or content in our slides. We as educators need to remember that adding pictures to our presentations leads to a better recall.

They Snooze you Lose by Burmark - Chapter 6

In chapter six, Harnessing Humor, Burmark give details in how to use humor in our presentations. We can have activities that will make students learn by having fun. These activities can be short stories, poems, recipes, etc. Burmark recommends to use neotenous pranks, also jokes, cartoons but most important to establish humor so that our students get contagious and get to work while having fun, which is going to make them want to work more. Burmark mentions that Surprise is other important aspect of humor that we can use to engage students in the content of our presentation that will improve the learning process in the classroom. By making students laugh does not mean that they are not learning, actually if we as teachers want to get the content across, first of all we need our students attention; once we have it, we can use some humor to keep them engaged in it will make it easier for them to remember the concepts learned.
